Stand-up-paddle or kayak at Quail Creek State Park! Our trained and licensed instructors will teach proper paddling techniques, water safety, situational awareness, and self-rescue methods in a format that involves both cooperative and competitive play! Includes mini guided tours to different locations around Quail Lake. Learn about the history, wildlife, and petroglyphs that make Quail Lake unique.
Sample Itinerary: (subject to change)

Day One - Monday

  • 9:30am: Check-in, have sunscreen pre applied, get on PFD, water bottles should be labeled and filled, get paddles sized.
  • Review water safety rules and guidelines.
  • Self rescue: How to safely get back in your kayak if you fall out.
  • Paddling  basics. How to hold a paddle; includes forward, back, and turning.
  •  Get comfortable in your life jacket and water temperatures: Kids will get in the water and practice just floating .
  •  KAYAK OR SUP time!:
  • Each kid will be filmes on their paddle technique on day one. 
  • Practice turning before we go anywhere. Smaller kids will be in a tandem kayak with staff. 
  • Paddle out to limestone beaches for snack time, skipping rocks, and catching crawdads. Paddle back.
  • Play on water carpet until parents pick up

Day Two - Tuesday

  • 9:30 am:  Check-in, have sunscreen pre applied, get on PFD, water bottles should be labeled and filled, get paddles sized.
  •  Review beach drills before we get on the water:
  • Review how to turn, paddle technique, add a skill.
  • TOUR/ Activity:  PARTY SUP's and Tandem Kayaks -  team paddle to the petroglyphs!
  •  Paddle back for shaved ice and a snack
  • Play on water carpet until parents pick up.

Day Three - Wednesday

  • 9:30 am: Check-in, have sunscreen pre applied, get on PFD, water bottles should be labeled and filled, get paddles sized.
  •  Beach skills before getting on the water.  Learn a new skill.
  •  PIRATE TREASURE HUNT!: Paddle to the Pirate Cove and look for treasure.
  • Practice new skill all the way out and back.  
  • Play on water carpet and eat snacks till parents pick up

Day Four - Thursday

  • 9:30am - Check-in, have sunscreen pre applied, get on PFD, water bottles should be labeled and filled, get paddles sized.
  •  BEACH REVIEW: Review paddle skills and learn a new technique.
  •  Go up Quail Creek and look for beavers and turtles. Learn about local wildlife.
  •  Each chilld will be filmed on the last day and see improvements made.
  • Play on water carpet and eat snacks till parents pick up.

 

A week after camp parents will receive video of their child's skills on day one and day four.
